DJ Pike
As a scenic and projection designer, my work revolves around seamlessly integrating space, light, and media to create immersive storytelling environments that deeply resonate with audiences. I believe theatre has the power to transport audiences to new worlds, challenge perceptions, and evoke deep emotional responses. My designs aim to enhance the narrative by creating visual landscapes that not only support the story but also invite the audience to engage actively with the performance, fostering a deep emotional connection.
I am deeply inspired by the relationship between the tangible and the ephemeral—between the physical set and the digital projections that can shift and evolve throughout a production. This duality allows me to explore themes of transformation, memory, and identity, which frequently arise in my work. I strive to design spaces that feel alive, where each element serves a narrative purpose, from how light falls on a surface to the subtle movement of a projected image. Collaboration is at the heart of my process. I work closely with directors, actors, and fellow designers to ensure that each production element is in harmony. I view each project as an opportunity to challenge myself creatively, discover new ways to communicate visually and push the boundaries of what scenic and projection design can achieve. Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to craft environments that resonate with audiences long after the curtain falls, leaving them with a lasting impression of the worlds we create together. |
