Everyman. A Bardcore Musical
Everyman, arguably the most well-known morality play, attempts to teach man how to find salvation through God. This play begs the question, how do you take a possibly dated text and represent it to a modern audience? Our adaptation looks through a modern lens at the absurdities and contradictions of the Catholic church, pushing the boundaries of what is sanctioned as “good behavior” by injecting famous rock and pop songs in a “Bardcore” music style. This clash of old-world views and modern morals gives a fresh take on that idea of being “good”. This cheerier view of Everyman, lets audiences reflect on their own behavior and decide if they are doing all they can for their own salvation.
